12/29/2023 0 Comments Dwarf fortress modtoolsThe Sims 4 base is a lot more stable, doesn't require a high range computer and can handle all the additions being added on. The Sims 3 had an awful problem with bugs and couldn't actually handle having all the packs at once. Part of the reason of having them made in the same place was so the packs could be integrated together more and have less bugs coming in. Now they just have Redwood - which is producing more content then they have ever produced before, not including Salt Lake City - it always took about a year for a new expansion pack (Pets actually takes about 2-3 years) but they had two studios making them. They had two Studios producing for the Sims in Sims 3: Redwood City and Salt Lake City. In that regard the Sims 4 is much better. You can't have a long save game with The Sims 3 or run a lot of packs/cc cus it will screw up and not run. At the end of the Sims 3 it really wasn't running very well and you could only use some of the expansion features in a specific world which required a new save game. And the stuff packs are the equivalent to the Sims 3 store, but much better value than the store, which if you bought everything went into the thousands. And when you include the Game Packs (some of which are really good - the vampires are the best I've seen in the franchise), there's actually about the same lvl of content as the Sims 3 as it 2 game packs and 1 expansion pack a year which is basically equivalent to two expansion packs a year. on PC it seems impossible to directly challenge The Sims.Ĭlick to shrink. They had two Studios producing for the Sims in Sims 3: Redwood City and Salt Lake City. I think the only way a competing sim-like game might succeed is if they target consoles. The audience I think is pretty set at modern times, since it helps with the "live sim" impresion. Damn EA counldn't do it and had to eventually cancel FIFA Manager.Īlso.Sims actually tried fantasy setting with Sims Medieval and it was actually pretty great, but nowhere near as successful. Even with Championship Manager brand it was impossible. The lead in experience, tech and data is just too big. Nobody can compete with Football Manager. It would be more like comparing it to Football Manager. Shooters/action-adventure tend to start almost from scratch with each entry. Sometimes they take more or less successful detours, but generally they tend to build on old stuff. Plus the Sims growth as franchise is aimed forward. Large part of Sims community bassicaly plays mostly Sims or even doesn't play other games at all. Combine that with regular paid add-ons and other micros and this is bassicaly game as service model. If you go to their communities, browser their forums, look up mods etc you will see level of activity that dwarfs most other franchises and they keep it up for far longer than those other franchises. Last year Sims 4 actually had more player activity than ever before. Sims fans are people who's been playing since the first game and they play it regularly.
